Electrical Construction Quality Control Plan

The success of an electrical project involves two factors:

  1. Completion of Installation as per contract document
  2. Quality of the installation according to schedule.

It is ensured through managers and electrical contractors to make a product with the best quality material. Due to which the rework process will be reduced and prevent expensive lawsuits.

Requirements for a electrical construction quality control pan

Quality assurance is the main responsibility of the Manager, which includes the following requirements:

  1. The person should be present for a specific item
  2. The regulatory body of the good electrical product and customer requirement can be identified
  3. Electrical items include filing, the index recorded in books
  4. Employees, workers have proper qualifications and equipment as per standards
  5. Non-conforming and error omitted action report

Issues in Quality of Products

There are many chances of faults in electrical products. The EPC Contractor and test plan are considered in the electrical construction quality control plan. It is the duty of a control manager to see the problem and fix it. These errors are usually checked at the inspection level.

Subcontractors have Intel of construction quality control to analyze this type of fault. The constructor contractor arranges the meetings to achieve the resolution of technical questions and quality control requirements.  The contractor gives access to the plant owner, inspector, and manager to check the fault on any portion of the project. For analyzing the error, there are many online tools to enhance the quality of a product.

Standards for electrical construction quality control plan

The guidelines for an electrical contractor for quality control are defined from the definition and implementation of the plan. Some building specifications are required to substitute with unique ideas of specifications.

The ISO9000 is a standard or protocol for the quality management systems which are used to create rules. The control manager uses this standard. The system’s intention is not just focused merely on enhancing the program. However, it has some electrical construction quality control plans.

FTA Quality Assurance and Control guideline and USACE Control Requirements are the standards for ensuring the quality of electrical construction.

While writing a plan for quality control, quality managers have unique ideas and considerations of customers.

Steps for writing electrical construction quality control plan

There must be a section for signature while writing the construction quality control plan so that everyone can read and agree. There is also a space for information related to the project, which explains the description of the project.

Step 1: Documentation and charts

The first step to write a quality control plan is to organize the chart, which helps the company to give responsibility to each member. Having an organizing chart makes it easier to understand the work for everyone. The tasks mentioned in the charts are related to quality control which depends on the inspection from start to end.

With charts, proper documentation has an impact on writing the plan. The resume and certificates of every member should be good enough to analyze the quality and write about them. For big projects, workers must have project-related skills, which should be mentioned in documents.

Step 2: Assign the duties

Duties must be assigned to the quality control team based on the following guidelines,

  • Implementation
  • Construction
  • Maintaining the data
  • Check and balance of Material

Duties are being properly assigned so that no confusion is made among the members.

The control manager has the ability to stop the work when any fault is there, which includes non-compliance to the standards or poorer material.

Step 3: Define work

The main objective is to fulfill the customer expectations. The manager must clearly meet the requirement of the customer for each contract before it is approved.

It is the responsibility of the Project Manager to verify the information and necessary details regarding the quality plan. Building specifications must also be clearly defined.

Step 4: Explain the phases of inspection

Many times, preparatory meetings are scheduled to make drafts regarding the construction elements.

Each inspection evaluates the scope of the project and related specifications. There is a starting inspection that verifies testing, establishes workmanship level, and ensures the product is fault-free and follows all the quality control protocols.

If it’s needed, the manager asks the contractor to replace the particular piece of material.

The purpose of the electrical inspections is to verify the installation. Final inspections determine whether the project is usable or not.

Step 5: Quality Control testing

The final section of the construction quality control plan has to cover a lot of ground. This section overviews testing, verification, submittals, tracking, and weekly logs. It lays out the tests that will be administered, the time frame the quality control manager must give before the test, what happens when a test fails, how the records will be stored, and the procedures around it.
